Below is a list and brief description of the clubs available for all HBA students to join:
Advancing Canadian Entrepreneurship
Entrepreneurship Ivey is essential for anyone aspiring to be self-employed, a manager, corporate executive, or investor, at some point in their life. Networking with other entrepreneurial-minded Ivey students is essential to the success of your future and/or present businesses. Entre preneurship Ivey brings together HBA and MBA students through events such as Ivey Apprentice, successful entrepreneurial guest speaker sessions, free lunches, and the start-up and/or operation of real businesses. Membership is $15 for one year or $20 for two years. The application process for four HBA1 Section Representatives will take place in early September.
Biz Speak
BizSpeak is an exciting opportunity offering students an arena to enhance business communication skills. Our sessions are aligned with the communications classes to act as tutorials, to offer unique presentation advice, and to further assist students interested in this career field. Our goal of is to provide an encouraging practice environment and to offer practical, professional advice from alumni and professors. After a successful first year, we are dedicated to continue serving all HBA's through achieving outstanding communication skills that set Ivey students apart, regardless of your chosen field of business. Join us for one of our sessions that are conveniently posted on eZone!
HBA Marketing Club
The HBA Marketing Club, is your source for anything and everything about marketing. This year we're going all out to provide students with access to top marketing industry resources, real-life exposure, and insights from experienced marketing leaders. The club's goal is to give students the opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of what it means to work in a marketing capacity. We have an exciting host of events planned for the upcoming year, including educational clinics led by top companies such as Kraft, summer job panels, the renowned industry mixer, and so much more. One of our primary focuses will be to expose students to the vast world of marketing from advertising to online media. We are thrilled with our executive team for the upcoming year and are excited to commence the season. There will be many opportunities to become involved with the Ivey Marketing Club and we look forward to meeting everyone in the fall!
Finance Club
The Finance Club aims to provide Ivey students with academic and career resources in finance. The club's executive consists of HBA2 students who have had experience working in investment banking, sales and trading, and corporate finance, and will serve as a valuable resource that you will be able to draw upon throughout the year. Events that the club will be holding this year include: Investment Banking 101, Sales & Trading 101, Finance Prep for Interviews, Super Day Mock interviews, tutorials before the HBA1 Finance midterm and final exam, resume clinic, HBA1 Mentorship Program, Global Banks Toronto Event, Bloomberg Training sessions and more!
HBA Accounting Association
The mission of the HBA Accounting Association is to provide academic, social, career, and networking opportunities to students at Ivey who are interested in the accounting profession. As the largest and one of the most active clubs at Ivey, the HBAAA holds many events that provide insight and exposure to the accounting profession. The club acts as a liaison by linking HBA1's to professional firms and accounting bodies. The HBAAA organizes CA Night, which gives HBA1's the opportunity to meet recruiters from the largest accounting firms. Additionally, the club offers exam and 48-Hour Report tutorials, industry panels, and career information sessions. These events held by the HBAAA are only possible with the support of our generous sponsors: BDO Dunwoody, KPMG, Deloitte & Touche, Ernst & Young, PricewaterhouseCoopers, and RSM Richter.
Ivey Consulting Club
The Ivey Undergraduate Consulting Club (IUCC) is looking forward to educating and preparing HBA1s interested in a career in management consulting. Every effort will be made to ensure you understand the basics of what consulting is, what the industry is like, and what an associate does. More importantly, the IUCC focuses on essential resume, cover letter, and case-interview preparation to help HBA1s get the summer job of their choice! Other highlights include: panels with summer management consulting associates, dinner with consultants from firms including McKinsey, Monitor, Bain, and the Boston Consulting Group, access to Ivey grad consultants, social events, and mock interview sessions to crack the case-based interviews presented by HBA2s and major consulting firms. Membership to join is only $20 and will guarantee an exciting year!
LEADER Project
LEADER is an overseas economic development program, founded in 1991 by MBA students from the Richard Ivey School of Business at the University of Western Ontario. Each year LEADER sends teams of approximately 30 business students from Ivey to developing and transitioning economies around the world to teach foundational business decision making and entrepreneurial skills to students and entrepreneurs from the regions in greatest need. Media, Arts & Entertainment
If your dream is to work in sports, film, theatre, television, radio, music or any other form of art, Ivey's Media, Arts, & Entertainment (MAE) club can help put you on the path by giving you the information you need and helping you get in contact with the right industry people. Through our academic and social network resources and opportunities, the MAE Club is dedicated to helping you tap into the hidden job market. This year, members can look forward to events such as: HBA2 student summer panel, guest speakers, industry info sessions, career management and resume workshop, and maybe some relevant trips. Beyond all the job stuff, MAE is also an outlet for your artistic expressions. Last year, the MAE club hosted a fun (and often hilarious) coffeehouse for all HBA's and Faculty, showcasing musical and other talents of Ivey students.
Operations Club
The mission of the HBA Operations Club is to provide HBA students with a forum to discuss operational topics, enrich their operational learning, experience first-hand different intensive operation facilities, and have the opportunity for extensive operations review sessions. Operational problems become real through first-hand experiences by visiting manufacturing plants. We also provide academic support in preparation for the midterm and final exams.
Technology Club
Ivey Management Technology Club (IMTC) is the only cross-industry HBA club focused on enhancing students' knowledge of technology to excel in Ivey and the corporate world. IMTC members will gain access to top-tier firms that harness business-related technology on a regular basis. Members who join are interested in: investment banking, consulting, accounting, IT, marketing, and other careers. Section Representa tive positions are available. IMTC offers tutorials for exams, the Management Science 48-hour report, Bloomberg, Microsoft Access, and much more!
Women in Finance
Become a founding member of the Women in Finance Society; an online social network that will provide you access to the people, knowledge and wisdom that will prepare you for a getting and succeeding in your finance career. Women in Management
An exciting and dynamic club, Women in Management (WIM) is dedicated to providing female HBA students with opportunities to expand their knowledge, skills and networks through professional development events. This year's club members will participate in numerous events, including an interactive faculty reception, various industry info sessions, a career panel focused on unique issues faced by women in the corporate world, social events, and much more.
